Daily Nonpareil Council Bluffs IA April 12th, 2004 MODALE - The funeral for Leo "Joe" Alexander, 89, of Modale will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Modale. He died April 10 at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley. He graduated from Modale Consolidated School System and married Gertrude Erixon Nov. 9, 1937, in Red Oak. He owned and operated Alexanders Grocery Store in Modale for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Loene Herman and husband, Jim, of Modale and Ginger Alexander of Modale; a sister, Mildred Strain of Modale; a brother, Donald Alexander of Lakewood, Calif.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends. Visitation with the family will begin Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. A Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:30. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be offered to the United Methodist Church.
