He died Thursday, November 23, 2000, at his home in Dunlap. Leo graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Dunlap and at-tended St. Ambrose College in Davenport for one year. November 14, 1951, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Mitchell. To this union seven sons and one daughter were born. They lived and farmed in the Dunlap area most of their life except for a brief period in Ankeny. At one time he owned and operated Sullivan Feed and Grain in Dow City, Dunlap and Earling. In recent years he sold Pioneer Seed Corn. Leo loved children, livestock, farming and working in sales. Sales work gave him an opportunity to make so many friends. He was known as the Bubble Gum Man by his customers' children, because he always had bubble gum for them. Sometimes he would drive up by their mail box and throw in a handful of bubble gum. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Jim and Joe and one great-grandson, Kobie Garner. Survivors include his wife Norma of Dunlap; daughter, Jean and husband Wayne Beam of Ankeny; sons, Leo A., Bart, Joe and wife Beth, Dave, Roger, John and wife Dede all of Dunlap, and Dan of Hillsboro, Texas; six grandchildren; two sisters, Delores and husband Randy Drahota of Omaha, Neb., Mildred Claire and husband Abe Goblirsch of Ralston, Neb; brothers, Bob and wife Theresa of Earling, Sheral of Cannon Falls, Minn., Mike of Carroll, and Kenny and wife Sharon of Dunlap; and a host of other relatives and many, many friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap Monday morning, November 27, 2000. Rev. Paul Strittmatter was celebrant for the 10:30 a.m. service. Musician was Marilyn Grote and vocalists were Tina Sullivan, Eve Vonne Muff and Jerry Baldwin. Interment was made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. Honor-ary casket bearers were Jennifer Whitenack, Sue Sullivan, Travis Sullivan, Josie Mefferd, James Sullivan, Nicholas Sullivan and Reggie Graeve. Casket bearers were Leo A. Sullivan, Bart Sullivan, Joe Sullivan, Dave Sullivan, Roger Sullivan, Dan Sullivan, John Sullivan, Jean Beam. Fouts Funeral Home of Dunlap and Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.
