Vorthmann, 66 May 21, 2004 Ronald E. Vorthmann, 66, Honey Creek, died May 6 at Longview Home, Missouri Valley. He was born in Walnut to Paul and Hermina (Barta) Vorthmann and graduated from high school in Beebeetown. Ronald served in the U.S. Army for two years and was an environmental engineer for Vickers, Omaha, for 36 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Neola. Ronald was married for 43 years to his wife, Rose (Baker). He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Scotty. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include daughters, Vickie Stephens and her husband, Mike, Council Bluffs; Debbie Leaders; and Tammie Stephens and her husband, Kelly, all of Honey Creek; son, Ronald R. Vorthmann and his wife, Shelley, Honey Creek; grandchildren, Krystal and Anna Leaders, Michelle, Heather, Bryce Vorthmann and Kaitlyn Vorthmann; step-grandchildren, Samantha and Jason Reid, Harley and Blake Stephens; sister, LaVonne Morrison, Honey Creek; brother, Paul J. Vorthmann and his wife, Margaret, Missouri Valley; nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held May 11 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Neola, the Rev. Charles Bichel, pastor, officiant. Interment was in the Grange Cemetery, Honey Creek, with military rites by American Legion Post 2. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
