    2. Daily Nonpareil Council Bluffs IA May 8th, 2004 Ronald E. Vorthmann, 66, of Honey Creek, died May 6 in Missouri Valley. He was born in Walnut to Paul and Hermina Barta Vorthmann and graduated from high school in Beebeetown. Vorthmann served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and was an environmental engineer for Vickers in Omaha for 36 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Neola. He was married for 43 years to his wife, Rose (Baker). Vorthmann was preceded in death by his parents and son, Scotty. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Vickie Stephens and husband, Mike, of Council Bluffs, Debbie Leaders and Tammie Stephens and husband, Kelly, all of Honey Creek; son, Ronald R. Vorthmann and wife, Shelley, of Honey Creek; grandchildren, Krystal and Anna Leaders, Michelle, Heather, Bryce Vorthmann and Kaitlyn Vorthmann; step-grandchildren, Samantha and Jason Reid, Harley and Blake Stephens; sister, LaVonne Morrison, of Honey Creek; brother, Paul J. Vorthmann and wife, Margaret, of Missouri Valley; nieces and nephews. Visitation is Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral service is Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Neola with Reverend Charles Bichel, pastor, officiating. Burial is at Grange Cemetery in Honey Creek, with military rites by American Legion Post 2. A luncheon will follow at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
