Spotts May 07, 2004 > > Erma Augusta (Condron) Spotts was born April 7, 1910, in Woodbine, Iowa to Ed and May (Frye) Condron. She grew up and attended country school in the Woodbine area. On July 26, 1926, she married Otto Leytham. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Betty and three sons, Ted, Dale and James. The couple farmed east of Dunlap for 14 years and then they purchased a farm west of Dunlap. Due to Otto's health, they retired from farming and moved to Denison. The couple managed two nursing homes in Denison and Coon Rapids. Eventually they moved back to Dunlap. At this time Erma became the cook at a restaurant and worked there for 15 years. Otto died in 1964. Erma moved back to Denison and was a baker for Cronk's Cafe for two years. She married Floyd Ellison in 1965. He died in 1966. Erma worked for Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine for two years. In 1973, Erma married Elwood Spotts. He died in 1988. Erma was a member of the Christian Church. She loved to garden and share her pr! > oduce with relatives and friends. She also enjoyed painting, crocheting and other craft activities. Erma died Friday, April 30, 2004 at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, reaching the age of 94 years and 23 days. > Preceding her in death were her parents; three husbands; son, Dale; daughter, Betty Gumm; and four sisters, Caroline Sorey, Marie Sorey, Marion Sorey and Lois Christensen. > Survivors include two sons, Ted Leytham and his wife Regina of Council Bluffs and Jim Leytham of Woodbine; sister, Lila Bulger of Carthage, Mo.; three step-children; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, May 3, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Woodbine with Rev. John Eilers officiating. Musician was Jan Kelley. Vocalists were Dencil and Vonda Hammack. Music selections were "In The Garden" and "The Lord's Prayer." > Interment was made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. Pallbearers were Chris Leytham, Terry Riles, Donald Christensen, Larry Oliver, Kenneth Sailors, Terry Sorey.
