Daily Nonpareil Council Bluffs IA May 6th, 2004 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Evelyn Mae Perkins, 88, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died May 5 while in hospice care at Alterra Wynwood. She was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Missouri Valley to Walter and Mae Roden. Evelyn was an executive secretary to the manager of the Boulder Credit Bureau. She and her husband later owned the Red Top Motel in Estes Park before moving to Colorado Springs in 1976. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, The Pathfinders Sunday School Class, the Kinnikinnik Chapter of the DAR, and the Legion Auxiliary in Boulder, Colo. Mrs. Perkins was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1992. They were married May 1, 1937, in Council Bluffs. Survivors include a son, Larry, and daughter-in-law, Joan, of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Phyllis Jensen and Lucille Green of Council Bluffs; two grandchildren, Michelle Hall and her husband, Chris, of Harlingen, Texas, Jonathan Perkins of Omaha and one great-granddaughter, Charis, of Harlingen, Texas. Private services are scheduled with burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colo.
