    2. Daily Nonpareil Council Bluffs IA May 25th, 2004 WOODBINE - Patricia A. Arps, 78, of Woodbine died May 23 at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine. On June 5, 1944, she married Lowell Arps at the Presbyterian Church in Woodbine. Pat taught school at Warman Country School west of Woodbine. She then taught fifth and sixth grade in Persia for one year. The couple lived in Ames, from 1949 to 1953 while Lowell was getting his degree. Then they moved to Lamoni for two years; Logan for five years; Emmetsburg for one year and finally to Woodbine. Pat was a substitute teacher and held several longtime substitute positions when the area schools needed someone. Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, P.E.O., and a neighborhood club. She was a past member of the Eastern Star, and past president of Jennie Edmundson Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered at Jennie Ed for 30 years, and she received the volunteer of the year award in 1976. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; two sons Keith Layne Arps on March 30, 2001, and Lloyd Arthur Arps on Feb. 24, 1994. Survivors include her husband, Lowell, of nearly 60 years; daughter, Mary Jo, and her husband, Dick Bonsall of Dunlap; two daughters-in-law, Jean Arps of Cordova, Tenn., and Sue Durfee of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Woodbine. Committal services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine.
