McClannahan, 73 June 01, 2004 James L. McClannahan, 73, Mondamin, died May 18 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha. Jim was born July 28, 1930 to John and Edna (Reichardt) McClannahan in Council Bluffs. Except for his military service in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, he lived and farmed south of Mondamin his entire life. He married Eileen Finken, Jan. 14, 1953 at the 5th Ave. Methodist Church, Council Bluffs. They were married 51 years. Jim loved farming, with one of his farms obtaining Century Farm status in 1998. He also enjoyed livestock, working in the yard and garden, playing cards with his family, entertaining his grandchildren and watching westerns on television. When he was younger, Jim enjoyed sports, excelling in basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maxine; and brother, Jack. Survivors include his wife, Eileen; daughters, Teri, Lori, Sheri Crabb and her husband, Matt; sons, Royal, Robin and his wife, Julie; grandchildren, Cari, John and Emily McClannahan and Jenna Crabb; brother, Gene; sister, Maureen Purcell; and step-brother, Jerry Cook. Funeral Services will be held today (Friday, May 21) at 10:30 a.m. at the Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home, Missouri Valley, Evangelist John Lizer, officiant. Casket bearers will be Milt Wallis, Jim Olinger, Bill Kirlin, Dillon Rife, Randy McDunn, and Jerry O'Gara. Interment will be in the Noyes Cemetery, Mondamin. Military Honors will be by the Mondamin and Modale American Legion posts. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Mondamin Community center following the committal service.
