McKay, 91 June 14, 2004 Evelyn H. McKay, 91, San Marcos, Calif., formerly of Logan, died Dec. 13, 2003 in Escondido, Calif. Evelyn was born Dec. 26, 1911 in Waterloo to William B. and Henrietta T. (Hanneman) Schmidt. At an early age, Evelyn moved to the Harrison County area. She attended school in Logan and graduated from Logan High School. Evelyn attended the School of Music at North central College, Naperville, Ill., then Simpson College, Indianola, where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music in 1933. She was married to Russell Stull McKay, June 11, 1939 in Logan. They resided in Logan where Evelyn was last employed with Perfection Learning. Russell died Jan. 4, 1980. Evelyn was a member of the United Methodist Church where she played the organ for many years and was a member of P.E.O. In 1983, Evelyn moved to California to be closer to her children. Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother, loving her family and spending time with them was her greatest joy. She enjoyed music, sewing, crocheting, knitting and baking. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Russell, and a brother, Roger. Survivors include her daughter, Ruth A. Wheat, San Marcos, Calif.; sons, William J., Oceanside, Calif.; John W., Chula Vista, Calif.; four grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. A Memorial Service was held at the United Methodist Church, Logan, May 29, Pastor Marv Siems, officiant. Organist was Barbara Sherer. Interment was in the Logan Cemetery.
