Wadedo May 28, 2004 Julie R. Wadedo of Sioux City died Friday, May 7, 2004 at a Sioux City hospital. Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City with the Revs. Gerald Feierfeil and Michael Sernett officiating. Burial was made in Calvary Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Julie was born in Aline, Okla., the daughter of George and Rose (Shaddy) Abboud. She moved to Omaha, Neb., as a child with her parents and attended schools in Omaha, Neb. She married Francis B. Wadedo on Nov. 24, 1945 in Omaha, Neb. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Sioux City and had been here since that time. Mr. Wadedo passed away on June 15, 1998 in Sioux City. Julie served as secretary in the Investigation Division of the Sioux City Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 1983. She was active in many community activities, having been a member of lowana Chapter, American Business Women, serving as president and being named "Woman of the Year." She was a long-time member of the Symphony Guild, a charter member and served as a board member for many years. She was former president and charter member of the former Sioux City Children's Choir. She was a member of the Sioux City Women's Club and served on the board for many years in addition to serving on the board of the Church Women United representing Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Julie was a volunteer of The Center and was honored as "Volunteer of the Year." She was a member of the Carmel Guild, Catholic Women's League and Chapter EY of PEO. She was also a member of the Art Association, Beaux Arts Guild and a former member of the Youth Symphony Board. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Women's Altar Society and also taught Catholic Christian Doctrine at Immaculate Conception. Julie enjoyed reading, listening to symphony music and playing bridge. Survivors include four daughters, Linda Jean Wadedo Jochims and her husband Ronnie of Hinton (formerly of Dunlap), Mary Lou Nichols and her husband Dan of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sue Ann Ricker and her husband Dave of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Terri Jo Schweisthal of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Melissa Johnk of Sioux City, Ryan Jochims and Rochelle McGill, both of Omaha, Neb., Jeremy Nichols of Madison, Wis., Christopher Nichols and Suzie Nichols, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., Leah Ricke of Orlando, Fla., John Ricker of Syracuse, N.Y., and Emily Rose Maldonado of Oviano, Italy; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Jack, Frank and Bill Abboud; two sisters, Marie Rehan and Emily Abboud; and a son in infancy, Gary Michael Wadedo. Pallbearers were her grandsons; two sons-in-law, Lanny Johnk and Brian McGill; and two nephews, Dennis Rehan and Tom Rehan. Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters.
