She died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 84. Doris was born in Radisson, Saskatchewan and received her education in a rural school in Canada. On October 16, 1940, she was united in marriage to Daniel Wilfred Hunt in Radisson. The couple made their home on a farm near Radisson and were blessed with the birth of four children. In 1950, the couple moved to Larimore, N.D., where they were blessed with the birth of three children. The couple continued farming in Larimore until Wilfred's death in 1975. Doris then moved to Denison where she met her special friend, Stuart Winey. While in Denison, she worked various jobs, including waitressing and bartending. In July of 2002, she entered the Denison Care Center, and later moved to Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine in November 2003. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, going for drives, and traveling, having visited California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Texas, and Louisiana. She also enjoyed trips to Branson, Mo., to see shows and look at the beautiful foliage. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilfred; three brothers, Melvin, Jim and John; one sister, Lila Baldrey and her husband Jack; one sister-in-law, Ruth Mitchell; and one grandson, Jason Hunt. She is survived by three sons, Gerald and his wife Emily of San Jose, Calif., Robert and his wife Laurie of Denton, Texas, and Lorne "Rick" and his wife Debbye of Shreveport, La.; four daughters, Elizabeth Hunt of Arlington, Texas, Joan Hunt of St. Louis, Mo., Judy (Gray) Dick and her husband Earl of Woodbine; and Kathryn Nistad and her husband Edward of Spokane, Wash.; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her special friend, Stuart Winey of Denison; one sister, Grace Nielson of Summerland, British Columbia; one brother, Elwood Mitchell and his wife Jenny of LeDuc, Alberta, Canada; two sisters-in-law, Madeline Hunt of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and Lea Mitchell of Port Alburni, British Columbia; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Jim Runnels officiated the service, with inurnment at the Deloit Cemetery.
