    2. Daily Nonpareil Council Bluffs IA Aug 10th, 2004 LOGAN - Edith (Godden) Pitt, 91, of Logan died Aug. 9 at Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley. She was born Nov. 26, 1912, in a sod house near Ainsworth, Neb., to George and Ada (Fry) Godden. She spent her formative years in the Logan area and graduated from Logan High School. She married Lawrence Pitt on Dec. 26, 1929. The couple had six children. She was a licensed practical nurse and worked as a private duty nurse. She and her husband also served as guides and custodians at the Historic General Dodge House. Mrs. Pitt was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; grandson Dale Pitt; and great-grandson David Rinkert. Survivors include four daughters, Marilyn Clinkenbeard and husband, Kenneth, of Mondamin, Gloria Martin and husband, Larry, of Phoenix; Karen Schreiner of Ankeny and Janice Spencer and husband, Bill, of Crescent; two sons, Norman Eugene and wife, Evelyn, of Logan and Marion and wife, Norma, of Honey Creek; 24 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. Visitation will begin Wednesday at noon with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Logan Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Church of Logan. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery of rural Persia.
