Daily Nonpareil Council Bluffs IA Aug 31 2004 Lavon Elvaira Bishop, 73, of Council Bluffs, died Aug. 27 at her residence. (http://bannerads.zwire.com/bannerads/redirect.cfm?ADLOCATION=4000&PAG=461&BRD=2554) Lavon was born Nov. 22, 1938, in Pisgah to Miles and Ethel Gray Fige. On May 29, 1950, she married William Bishop Jr. and spent the rest of her life as a devoted wife and mother. She is preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Lavon is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bill Bishop Jr.; son Bill Bishop III and his wife, Judy, of Lyons, Neb., and son David Bishop of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. There will be a visitation tonight from 6 to 8 at Henry-Livingston Funeral Home, formerly McCurdy Funeral Home. A Celebration Of Life service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Henry-Livingston Funeral Chapel with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
