Thomsen December 3, 1923 - March 14, 2007 The Daily Nonpareil 3/17/2007 Leora M. Andersen, age 83 of Council Bluffs, passed away March 14, 2007. Leora was born December 3, 1923, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to the late Chris and Dollie (Johnsen) Thomsen. She graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1940 and received a teaching degree from Omaha University. Leora married Vernon S. Andersen on April 1, 1945. She was a teacher for 25 years retiring from Underwood, Iowa, Schools in 1984. Leora was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was a collector of porcelain birds. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Andersen in 2006. Leora is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Watson and husband, Chuck of Council Bluffs, Joyce Westby and husband, Tom of Des Moines, son, Larry Andersen and wife, Vicki of Mundelein, Ill.; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Meadows of Council Bluffs, Donna Mae Fountain and husband, Everette of Logan, Dortha Lea McIntosh and husband, Bernard of Neola, nieces, nephews, and many friends. ! Visitation with the family, Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral Service, Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary with Rev. Jonathon Kosec and Rev. Dr. Duane Anunson co-officiating. Interment Grange Cemetery with a lunch following at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
