Peckenpaugh Feb. 15, 1942 - Feb. 21, 2007 ©MISSOURI VALLEY TIMES - NEWS 03/07/2007 Vona K. Middleton, 65, Meridian, Ida., died Feb. 21, 2007 at a local hospital. Vona was born Feb. 15, 1942, in New Orleans, La., to Clarence Melburn and Hazel Gertrude (Pridgeon) Peckenpaugh. Vona graduated from Leeds High School in Sioux City in 1959. She also attended Morningside College, Sioux City, and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Education. She taught school in Glenwood and Sibley, until she moved to Idaho in 1967. Once in Idaho she taught at Nampa High School until her retirement in 1997. For continuing education Vona spent many summers in Washington, California, Oregon, Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada and Utah. November 22, 1967 Vona married Robert L. Middleton. They were married in Boise, Ida. at the Cathedral of the Rockies. They were married for thirty-nine years. Vona was a retired member of the Idaho Education Association, a life member of the National Education Association, a member of Ducks Unlimited and held life memberships in Canada,! the United States, Mexico and New Zealand. Her levels of membership included Life, Grand Slam, Perpetuity, Heritage and Benefactor. Vona enjoyed sewing, art, crafts and her chocolate labs. Vona's dogs were even DU members and some held Legacy Greenwing memberships. Vona was one of the ladies listed as the sponsor of the Ladies Project in Regina, Canada. She loved the waterfowl and was very proud to say that she was able to put something back for the future generations. Just last week she was honored by the returning geese landing on her roof. As she would say, they're back. Survivors include her husband: Robert L. Middleton, Meridian, Ida., formerly of Modale; brother, Jon Peckenpaugh and his wife, Cheryl, and their children, Greenbelt, Md.; sisters, Gloria Lamphear and her husband, Frank, and their children, Sioux City; Judy Beeman and her husband, Gary, and their children, Sioux City; aunt, Betsy Pridgeon, Marshalltown and Mesa, Ariz. Funeral Services will be held at 10:! 30 a.m. today (Friday, March 2) at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home, Missou ri Valley, Pastor Shurmaine McAlpine, officiant. Organist will be Genelle Riesland, Vocalist will be Rick Powell. Honorary Bearers will be: Herb Broughton and John Kellogg. Casket Bearers will be: Brad Rock, Ron Schulz, Rick Schulz, Kevan Cleaver, Kenneth Holtz, and Korey Kletschke. Interment will be in the Calhoun Cemetery near Missouri Valley. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Methodist Church in Missouri Valley following the committal service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 S. Orchard Street, Suite 200, Boise, Idaho 83705.
