(Chuck) Earleywine, 77, Little Sioux, died March 3 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa. Charles Duane Earleywine was born Jan. 22, 1930 in Scottsbluff, Neb. to Malcom Charles and Alice M. (Dunkle) Earleywine. He was raised in Little Sioux and graduated from Little Sioux High School in 1947. After graduation, Charles enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1947, and was detached to the United Nations, where he served in the Middle East and was honorably discharged in August of 1951. Charles married 'the love of his life," Anne McColley, in Mondamin, Jan. 10, 1953, and to this union five children were born. Through the years, Charles worked as a heavy machine operator and truck driver, for most of his life. In recent years, he was employed by McCord Trucking, Pisgah. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and attending their sporting events. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons. He was a member of the Little Sioux Post No. 410, American Legion, had served on the Little Sioux City Council, Little Sioux Fire Department, and President of the Little Sioux Homecoming Association. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ira Lee Waters; and stepfather, Ira Faris. Survivors include: his wife, Anne, Little Sioux; children, Sue Anne Breeling, Corpus Christi, Tex.; Charles Howard Earleywine and his wife, Deborah, Missouri Valley; Elaine Green and her husband, Bruce, Primghar; Mike Earleywine and his wife, Debbie, Omaha; Rod Earleywine and his wife, Molly, Sergeant Bluff; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Schneider, Fremont, Neb.; Dixie Little, Little Sioux; Nadine Breyfogle, Missouri Valley; Marilyn Cooper, Little Sioux; and Carolyn Bellville, Mondamin. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 7 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Missouri Valley, Rev. Fr. Mike Berner, officiant. Organist was Lyle Waterhouse, vocalist was Jeannie Rowell. Honorary Bearers were: Wes Hall, Floyd Flint, and Roy Breeling. Casket Bearers were: Marty Carritt, Mark Flint, Rex Flint, Rod Foutch, Dan Carritt, Dwight Evers, Bruce Flint, and Scott Clark. Interment was in the Little Sioux Cemetery. Military Rites were conducted by the Engineer Maintenance Co., United States Marine Corps, Omaha. Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home, Missouri Valley, was in charge of arrangements.
