Doug operated Schaefer Outsulation Company in Council Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his father Murel. He is survived by wife, Tracy (Grant) Schaefer; two children, Samantha and Zachary Schaefer, all of Council Bluffs; mother, Carole and Scott Krajicek, of Logan, Iowa; two brothers, Rick and Reynie Schaefer, of Fremont, Neb., and Don and Jennie Schaefer, of Columbus, Neb.; sister, Sheryl Mumm, of Harlan, Iowa. Visitation with the family 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine, Iowa. Funeral services 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 30th at the funeral home.
