Irene was born December 27,1926 in Beebeetown, IA to the late Henry and Adele (Wohlers) Spark. She was a 1944 Graduate of Beebeetown High School. She married Mervin McKenzie in Missouri Valley, IA. in 1949. She lived in the rural Treynor/Carson area all her married life. Irene worked as the Secretary of the Treynor Community Schools; later worked at First Star Bank. Following retirement she worked part time for Christy creme at the Mall of the Bluffs and later transferred to the North Broadway location. Irene was preceded in death by her husband Mervin McKenzie in January, 1996. She is survived by her sons, Monte McKenzie, wife Rhonda, Minden, IA, Mark McKenzie, Omaha, NE, Marlon McKenzie, Treynor, IA, Myron McKenzie, wife Gloria, Phoenix, AZ; 4 grandchildren, Alycia, Zachary; Jake and Cole McKenzie; sister, Mrs. Delmar Carlson, Council Bluffs, IA; nieces and nephews. There will be an open viewing Thursday at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral. Home. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held Friday 9am at the funeral home, Rev. Arlyn Norris, will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by luncheon and fellowship at St. Paul Lutheran Church,Treynor, IA. Memorials may be offered to either that church or Treynor Fire and Rescue.
