Oct. 3, 1942 - Feb. 28, 2007 ©MISSOURI VALLEY TIMES - NEWS 03/13/2007 James F. (Jim) Cooper, 64, Mondamin, died Feb. 28, 2007 at Alegent Health Bergan Mercy Hospital, Omaha. James was born Oct. 3, 1942 in Little Sioux to Floyd and Mildred (Herring) Cooper. He attended Mondamin High School where he graduated in 1961. September 1, 1962, he married Sharon K. Neill in Missouri Valley. To this union three children were born. He lived his entire life in the Mondamin area, where he farmed and raised Polled Hereford cattle. James was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren's sporting and school activities. He also loved farming and raising cattle. He taught Religious Education classes at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was an active member of the church, serving as Lector and Eucharist Minister. He was a member of the Iowa Hereford Breeders Association, served as a judge for the National Polled Hereford Association, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, past vo! lunteer member of the Mondamin Fire & Rescue Department, and he enjoyed watching his grandchildren show cattle at cattle shows, and was a member of the Harrison County Cattlemen's Association and past 4-H Leader. James was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Linda Cooper; nephew. Reggie Cooper; and aunts and uncles. Survivors include: his wife, Sharon, Mondamin; daughter, Pamela Hinkel and her husband, Steve; sons, David Cooper and his wife, Shelly; Doug Cooper and his wife, Katie, all of Mondamin; eight grandchildren: Amanda Hinkel, Travis Hinkel, Kandi Hinkel, Cortney Cooper, all of Mondamin; Justina Cooper and LaTeasa Cooper, both of Fort Ransom, N.D.; Kent Cooper ad Ellen Cooper, both of Levelland, Tex.; brother, Norman Cooper and his wife, Pat, San Antonio, Tex.; Thomas Cooper and his wife, Pam, Moville; sister, Beverly Buckman and her husband, Tom, Glenview, Ill.; mother-in-law, Mary Neill, Mondamin; six nieces; six nephews; two great-nieces and four grea! t-nephews A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 5 at St. Pat rick's Catholic Church, Missouri Valley, Rev. Fr. Bob Harris, celebrant. Organist was Sharon Shelton, vocalist was Leone Herman. Honorary Bearers were: Bob Neill, Grover Gee, John Buckman, Mike Waldemer, Harley Mether, Ken Kehn, Gordon Glennie, Russell Hildreth, and Lloyd DeForest. Casket Bearers were: Mike Boggs, Tim Cooper, Duane Ehlert, Joe Ball, Gabe Cooper, and Larry Ramsey. Interment was in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Magnolia.
