Thurber Sept. 30, 1904 - Feb. 26, 2007 ©MISSOURI VALLEY TIMES - NEWS 03/13/2007 Vivian T. Heath, 102, Missouri Valley, died Feb. 26, 2007 at Alegent Health Community Memorial Hospital, Missouri Valley. Vivian was born Sept. 30, 1904 to Howard H. and Emma (Burcum) Thurber in Perry. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1923. Vivian attended Huron College in Huron S.D., where she met "the love of her life," Harlan Heath. They were married Aug. 10, 1929 in Oak Park, Ill. and lived there until 1939, when they moved to Missouri Valley. They were married 54 years until Harlan died in 1983. Vivian was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, Missouri Valley, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) and P.E.O.. She sold Avon products for several years, was the bookkeeper for Heath Jensen Tractor Co., and she enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, and traveling. Vivian loved life and she lived her life with love. She loved her church with a faith that was strong and never wavered. She loved traveling, learning new things and the beauty of nature! . Most of all, she loved caring for and spending time with her family. We, her family, are also blessed by her unconditional love and will continue to keep it in our hearts and share it with others all through our lives. "And the greatest of these is love." She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and husband, Harlan. Survivors include: her daughters, Jeanne and her husband, Lawrence, Herzberg, Clarinda; and Sandra and her husband, Ken Marquardt, Missouri Valley; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held March 2 at the First Presbyterian Church, Missouri Valley, Pastor Stephen Pike, officiant. Pianist was Amy Hoyt Whiteley. Casket Bearers were: Mitchell Marquardt, Scott Marquardt, Dean McIntosh, Dub Adams, Mark Marquardt, Bruce Herzberg, and Scott Stegall. Interment was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Missouri Valley.
