"Zeke" Schlensig, 78, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in Alamogordo. Mr. Schlensig was born July 15, 1928 in Dunlap, Iowa to Oscar and Lida (Black) Schlensig. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a master sergeant in 1969. After his military retirement he operated Zeke's Salvage in Alamogordo, New Mexico, then was a salesman for 4Plex Photo Equipment. He was a life member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. His hobbies were horse racing and gun collecting. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Leola Schlensig of the family home; a daughter, Betty Gough and her husband Doug of Wichita Falls, Texas; a son, Richard "Fuzzy" Schlensig and his wife Alice of Alamogordo, N.M.; nine grandchildren, Cheryl Dodson and her husband Ron and Dawn Gough of Wichita Falls, N.M., Jason Schlensig and his wife Deanna of Alamogordo, N.M., Stephanie Colbert and her husband Jared of Los Lunas, N.M., Edward and Russell Schlensig of Alamogordo, N.M., Geneva C! ole and her husband Shane of North Carolina, Ann Champion and her husband Jeff of North Carolina, and Cecil Schlensig and his wife Linda of La Luz, N.M.; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Bill Schlensig and his wife Helen, and Jim Schlensig, all of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Schlensig; a grandson, John Schlensig Jr.; and two brothers and five sisters. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 18, 2006 in the Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home Chapel with military honors by the Holloman AFB Honor Guard. Committal services were Monday, November 20 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas.
