Teichert posted with permission from: Logan Herald-Observer, Logan, IA 51546 Woodbine Twiner, Woodbine, IA 51579 12/06/2006 Brent A. Teichert, 44, of Logan, passed away Nov. 26, 2006 at his home in Logan. Memorial services were held Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Logan with Pastor Marv Siems officiating. Brent was born in Omaha, Neb., Dec. 31, 1961 to Glen and Carol (Harms) Teichert. When not attending school in Omaha, Brent lived with his grandparents in Pomeroy, Iowa, where he learned farming and livestock operations from his granddad Alvin. Active in Boy Scouts earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 1978, he was also given the Youth Merit Award by the Omaha Rotary Club in recognition of outstanding service, dependability and leadership. Brent flipped burgers for Wendy's restaurant through high school and later continued to do building and property maintenance while also framing, roofing and remodeling residential properties. Brent traveled throughout the U. S. erecting metal buildings then returned to maintenance working for Skinner Bakery as well as the Packing House in Omaha. He also maintained several properties for NP Dodge before joining the trades first as a union laborer then as a carpenter where he remained. Brent was a Journeyman Carpenter and worked as a general foreman for Kiewit Construction Company for more than 15 years, contributing to many projects in the Omaha area. He was a graduate of Millard High School in 1980 and continued his education by completing many additional years of trade school and vocational training becoming proficient in heating and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, concrete work and welding. Brent enjoyed restoring old Chevy trucks and cars, swap meets, mud drags, tractor pulls, thrashing shows, demolition derbies, rodeos, boating and water skiing. Above all Brent found it most relaxing just riding his horse. Brent's dream of country living was realized in 2000 when he and Peggy moved from the Omaha/Aksarben area to an acreage just outside of Logan. After years of intense cleanup, Brent began planning and designing their dream home. Brent and Peggy were married Sept. 27, 2003 on the site of their future home at their acreage. Having developed a keen interest in alternative power sources and building green, Brent attended many lectures and seminars on the use of solar power, wind power and geothermal technology. Brent had a wonderful "green thumb" and loved horticulture especially growing cactus, flowers, trees and a vegetable garden. He loved to travel and fly and had intended to obtain his pilots license as well as to make his "next" project a remodel of an old plane or build a plan from a kit. He was interested in his community and wanted to become more involved as was his Grandfather Teichert of Elsie, Neb. during his lifetime. Brent was baptized at the Elsie Methodist Church in Elsie, Neb. He was a confirmed member of Faith Westwood Methodist Church while living in Omaha. Brent and Peggy enjoyed attending services at the Logan United Methodist Church after moving to Logan. Survivors include his wife Peggy; children Larry and Tiffany Teichert; parents Glen and Carol Teichert of Neola; sister Beth Coleman of Blair, Neb.; grandfather Alvin Harms of Pomeroy; many nieces, nephews and friends. The Logan Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
