She attended grade school and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1933. Mamie married Hudson Beebee Ehlert on September 10, 1940, in Papillion, Nebraska. Mamie farmed with her husband in the Woodbine area until Hudson’s death on August 30, 1985. After Hudson’s death, Mamie moved into Woodbine. Mamie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Magnolia, Iowa and later Immanuel Lutheran Church in Logan, Iowa. She loved to travel and work crossword puzzles. Mamie enjoyed researching family history and she worked with the Harrison County Genealogy Society. Mamie’s family was very dear to her and she enjoyed keeping up on the grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities. Mamie died Saturday, December 2, 2006, in Woodbine, Iowa attaining the age of 91 years, five months, and 28 days. Mamie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her two sons, Dennis Ehlert and his wife Lorraine of Woodbine, Iowa, Roger Ehlert and his wife Jeanne of Haysville, Kansas; one daughter, Jeanne and her husband Robert Jackson of Anita, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one sister Winifred King of Blair, Nebraska; three sisters-in-law, Helen Ehlert, Edna Ehlert, Loie and her husband Merril McElwain all of Woodbine, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Fargo Ehlert of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
