Kloster Woodbine Twiner, Woodbine, IA 51579 12/06/2006 LaVerne E. Kloster, 73, of 2213 Woodland Drive, Apt. 3, Dubuque, formerly of Remsen, Iowa, died, Nov. 15, 2006 at home. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 20, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Remsen. Burial was in the Remsen City Cemetery. Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, Dubuque were in charge of the arrangements. LaVerne was born on Nov. 25, 1932, in Plymouth County, Iowa, son of Harold and Martha (Bork) Kloster. He graduated from the Cleghorn High School and Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force for two years and was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City, S.D. LaVerne was math teacher in Moorhead, East Monona, Woodbine, Storm Lake and at Dubuque Hempstead High School until his retirement. In addition to teaching, he was always involved in coaching girls cross-country, track and girls basketball. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Remsen, the Retired Teachers' Association and several coaching organizations on the state and local level. In his younger years, LaVerne was an avid softball player. Surviving are his sister, Carol Ann (Terry) Peters, of Avoca, Iowa; and nieces and nephews, Kim Peters, of Adair, Joel Peters of Mesa, Ariz., and Susan (Troy) Oehlertz, of Laurens and their children, Chase, Destini and Trey.
