Barbara was born March 10, 1929, to Robert and Beatrice "Bertha" (Jones) Smith in Dunlap, Iowa. Barbara was raised in the Dunlap area and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1946. Barbara married Harold Eugene Rogers on August 3, 1948. The couple lived on the family farm for 20 years and spent the remainder of their lives in Dunlap. Harold died on September 23, 1987. Barbara was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dunlap, a past matron of the Dunlap Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Boyer Valley Sunshine Club. She was an avid Iowa State fan. Barbara enjoyed playing bingo and golfing. She shared her love of golf with some of Dunlap's youth by teaching golf lessons. Barbara died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa attaining the age of 78 years, two months, and 13 days. She is survived by her son, David Rogers and his wife Diane of Denison, Iowa; two grandchildren, Jeralyn Rogers of Des Moines, Iowa and James Rogers and his wife Emily of Madrid, Iowa; brother, Albert Smith of Loup City, Nebraska; sister, Jane Winter of South Sioux City, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Gary Smith, Trent Berhow, Richard Juhl, Larry McDonald, Don Roberts, Nick Schwery. Fouts Funeral home in Dunlap handled the arrangements.
