Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. Lee Egan died Thursday, January 4th, in Council Bluffs. Survivors include her daughters, LaVena Snay (Otto) of Omaha, NE and Thelma Gravel (Gerald) of Pensacola, FL; 1 brother, Lowell "Shorty" Farley of Dunlap. Visitation will be held after 2:00 PM, Monday, January 8th, with family visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap. The family moved to the Dunlap area when Lee was a young child. She attended country school and Dunlap High School. She helped out at her folks' farm. She became quite handy with wallpapering, painting and other repairs around the house. In June of 1931, she married Ira Edward Hansen. The couple lived in Defiance until 1945 when they moved to Dunlap. Lee worked at the telephone company and the Dunlap Pharmacy. In January of 1951, Lee married Charles Egan. The couple lived in the Dunlap area. Lee and Charlie did a lot of traveling and spent their winters in Texas. Charlie died March 16, 1977. After Charlie's death Lee continued wintering in Texas until the late 1990's. She also enjoyed going on bus tours with other ladies. Lee was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap and a member of the Altar Society. Lee enjoyed sewing, crocheting and playing cards. Lee died on Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa attaining the age of 92 years, nine months and 17 days. Lee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie; three brothers, Glen, Lyle and Ira Farley and two sisters, Gladys Brown and Grace Hansen. She is survived by her two daughters, LaVena and her husband Otto Snay of Omaha, Nebraska; Thelma and her husband Gerald Gravel of Pensacola, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 35 great great grandchildren; brother Lowell "Shorty" Farley of Dunlap, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.
