"Dick" The Daily Nonpareil 1/6/2007 & 1/7/2007 Richard H. "Dick" Olsen, age 78, of Council Bluffs, passed away January 3, 2007 at UNMC in Omaha. Dick was born June 29, 1928 in Omaha to the late Roy and Agnes (Kirlin) Olsen. Dick and his parents moved to Missouri Valley where he graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1947. He served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Dorothy Morse on January 22, 1953. To this union five children were born. They moved to Council Bluffs in 1953. Dick was a transportation assistant for the Union Pacific Railroad for 36 years retiring in 1986 and was a member of the Catholic faith. He had a great love of music and had his own band "The Dick Olsen Orchestra". Dick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Olsen, of Council Bluffs; daughters, Kimberly Beck and husband Martin, of South Lake, Texas, Kathy Olsen, of Council Bluffs; sons, Richard E. Olsen and wife Cindy, of Omaha, Robert Olsen and wife Deborah, of Council Bluffs, John Olsen and wife Connie, ! of Gretna, Neb.; and 10 grandchildren. Visitation with the family, Sunday, 6-8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Celebration of Dick's Life, Monday, 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary with Rev. Dan Kirby officiating. Burial of cremains in Ridgewood Cemetery with military rites tendered by American Legion Post #2. Memorials to UNMC, Oncology Section Leukemia/Lymphoma Research, 987680 NMC, Omaha, Ne. 68198-7680 preferred.
