Mary Jane was born April 6, 1936 in Omaha to Claire D. and Bernice E. (Houlihan) Barnes. She graduated from the Notre Dame Academy. Mary Jane was married to William (Bill) Christoffersen in 1955, in Omaha. Mary Jane operated a daycare center for many years in her home. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where she was very active in many activities, and the Garden Club. She enjoyed her family, cooking, gardening and ceramics. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claire and Bernice Barnes, and her brother, James. Survivors include: her husband, William (Bill) Christoffersen, Missouri Valley; son, William C. Christoffersen, Jr., and his wife, Teresa, Omaha; daughters, Maureen Hamm and her husband, David, Plainview, Neb.; Tera Rand and her husband, Jim, Missouri Valley; sister, Eileen Rasnick and her husband, Vince, Omaha; brothers, Dr. John W. Barnes and his wife, Janet, Omaha; and Gerald Barnes and his wife, Joanne, Omaha; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Missouri Valley, today (Wednesday, Dec. 27) at 10 a.m., Rev. Fr. Bob Harris, celebrant. Organist will be Lyle Waterhouse, vocalist will be Ann Marie Wolford. Honorary Bearers will be "The Children She Has Taken Care of Over The years." Casket Bearers will be Jim Rand, David Hamm, Brandon Hamm, Jacob Rand, Britton Hamm, and William Charles Christoffersen III. Interment will be in Westlawn Hillcrest Cemetery, Omaha, at 2 p.m. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at St. Patrick's Catholic Church immediately following the Mass. Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home, Missouri Valley, is in charge of arrangements.
