She was born Feb. 12, 1914 in Fremont, Neb., to Anton and Mary Johnson. Graduated Valedictorian from Missouri Valley High School in 1931. She lived in Missouri Valley, Council Bluffs, Omaha and the last 5 years in Wyoming. Dorothy married Hugh Carter (also a Missouri Valley graduate in 1930. She worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Rail Road in Council Bluffs for 30 years in the Trainmaster's Car Dept. Skilled in being about to take depositions, cover legal hearings and aiding in investigative reporting. She was a former member of First Christian Church of Council Bluffs ABC Club. Radio Talking Book volunteer for 30 years, reading over the air and recording books. She is preceded in death by children Kenneth and Elaine, who both graduated from Council Bluffs schools. Survived by her niece Marilyn Repshire and her husband Darrel Repshire, of Cheyenne Wyo., plus other nieces and nephews. Graveside service Monday 10 a.m. at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park, 5701 Center Street, Omaha, 402-556-2500.
