Born 4/8/15, at the family ranch in Wheeler County, NE, youngest daughter of Scott H. Bowers and Maude Workman Bowers. Preceded in death by husband of 65 years, Maurice, and half-brother, Bert Morian. Survived by son, Scott and wife, Gail, Minneapolis; daughter, Ellen, Omaha; grandchildren, Alexandra and Andrew Archer and Sloan Dawson; sister, Tessa Mae Dunlap, Casper, WY; sister-in-law Marge Smith, Denver; former son-in-law Frank Dawson; nieces, nephews and godchildren. Vera taught in the rural schools of Holt and Wheeler counties immediately following graduation from Ewing High School at age 16 and later attended Norfolk Business College. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Vera quickly converted houses to homes in numerous moves across the country during Maurice's corporate career. She served countless hours as a volunteer in each city where they lived. For five consecutive years in the 1950's, she rec! eived recognition as one of the highest achieving Avon saleswomen in the United States. Vera was a superb cook and creative homemaker who loved gardening, animals, genealogy, and her native Nebraska. She was a loyal, kind friend and neighbor, widely regarded for her warm hospitality and keenly interested in the world and people around her. In the last two decades of her life, Vera handled severe rheumatoid arthritis with dignity and grace, never complaining about its many limitations. She will be remembered with great affection by family, friends and caregivers. Graveside services were held November 4 in Ewing, NE. Memorials to Women's Fund of Greater Omaha.
