Surnames: River Sioux Railway operation -- Crabb Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0k.2ADE/2167 Message Board Post: A wax seal stamp came into my possession recently, "American Railway Express River Sioux Iowa". And, I began looking for information about River Sioux (and am still wanting to find an authority on the railroad operations there). However, in doing so, I stumbled across a reference to a possible ancestor of mine, James Crabb, who was one of the three who sold the town site to the railroad. A James Crabb (not necessarily THIS James Crabb) was my grandfather's uncle and that family was located in southern Greene Co. and northern Guthrie Co. Iowa. My 85-year-old mother recalls that her "great uncle Jim" reputedly "made some money" on a deal at one time and "had some money" but the source of that income was never clear as he was a bachelor and a farmer for all of his life as far as she knew. I would like to know if the River Sioux James Crabb and the Greene/Guthrie Co. James Crabb are the same person. I do have some information on the Greene/Guthrie James Crabb's ancestry (his parents and grandfather at least). Am planning to drive over there on July 22 to check a library, and talk with anyone who will talk with me. Could that be YOU? Many thanks, Mick Scheib 641-429-3244 (Jamaica/Yale IA)
