Daily Nonpareil Council Bluffs IA July 27th, 2004 LOGAN - H. Romain "Sam" Adams, 90, of Logan died July 25 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. On May 22, 1940, Romain married M. Katherine Royer. To this union were born a daughter and two sons. The couple farmed in the Woodbine area until 1953 when they moved to Logan. In Logan, Romain went into the tank wagon business. He later sold cars and picked up the nickname of Sam, owned a rock truck and lastly worked as an alcoholism counselor. Romain was a member of the Christian Church in Logan and had served as a deacon and later as an elder for several years. He was a longtime member and Past Master of the Chrysolite Masonic Lodge No. 420 AF & AM in Logan. Romain was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Carol Jean, two brothers, four sisters and daughter-in-law Glenette Hillman Adams. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Katherine of Omaha; two sons, Terry Adams and his wife, Carolyn, of Omaha and Keith Adams and his wife, Linda, of Council Bluffs; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Othel Adams and wife, Lorie, of Omaha. Family visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 with a Masonic service at 7 at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine.
