Rose, 86, of Dunlap died Tuesday, January 30, 2001, at the Alegent Health Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley. Funeral services were held at First Congregational Church in Dunlap Friday afternoon, February 2, 2001, with Pastor James Runnels officiating. Musician was Jessica Rose who played "Red River Valley." Vocalists were Kent Bornhoft who sang "Amazing Grace" and Christina Rose who sang "The Old Rugged Cross." Interment was made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. Pallbearers were Kent Bornhoft, Nanette Bornhoft, Doug Dublinske, Fonda Dublinske, Monty Rose, Richard Rose. Fouts Funeral Home of Dunlap was in charge of arrangements. Catherine was born November 25, 1914, to Enos and Ida (Brundidge) Kline in rural Dunlap. Catherine lived in the Dunlap and Dow City areas where she attended country school and then worked for area families. September 18, 1931, Catherine was united in marriage to LeRoy Rose. They farmed west of Dunlap. In 1938, they bought a farm in the Gallands Grove area. In 1968, they moved into Dunlap. Catherine was a member of the Congregational Church, and was an active member of the Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her parents; a great-grandchild, Kayla Allen; and her brother, Ted Kline. Survivors include her son, Jim Rose and wife Norma Jean of Deloit; two daughters, Betty and husband Bob Schlensig of Morristown, Ariz., and Janice and husband Fonley Allen of Dunlap; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Blanche Smith of Omaha, Neb., Maymie Shumate of Dunlap and Mary Ellen and husband Raymond Segebart of Dow City; and one brother, Ray and wife Kate Kline of Denison.
