He was born May 9, 1914, to Albert and Retta (Hull) Hein in Success, Saskatchewan, Canada. He grew up and received his education in Canada. At the age of 20, Gerry moved to the Dunlap area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Gerry married Lorene Burrow. The couple farmed in the Dunlap area in the summer, and during the winter months Gerry worked in the produce industry in California for 20 years. He has lived and worked in the Dunlap area since 1964. Gerry was an avid fisherman, golfer and raspberry grower. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Kenneth and Dick. Survivors include his wife, Lorene of Dunlap; a daughter, Geraldine of Eugene, Ore.; three sons, John, and Richard and wife Jennifer all of Dunlap, and David and wife Yolanda of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Lois Arnstad of Fullerton, Calif.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Services were held Monday morning, October 9, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church with Rev. James Runnels officiating. Musician was Beverly Price and vocalist was Jerry Baldwin. Interment was made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. Military Graveside Services were courtesy of American Legion Post #224. Pallbearers were Jason Siemer, Jordan Hein, Kenneth Anderson, Fritz Baldwin, Kenny Hein, Joe Heller, Ron Nelson, Dave Roberts. Fouts Funeral Home of Dunlap and Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.
