Kintigh, 75, of Storm Lake, Iowa and formerly of the Washta area, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2006, at 1:50 p.m. in the St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City following a lingering illness. Memorial services were held on Thursday, October 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. Rev. Duane Queen officiated. Burial was made in the Grand Meadow Cemetery at rural Washta, Iowa. It was Harold's wishes to be cremated. There was no visitation. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee was in charge of the arrangements. Harold was born on May 24, 1931 at Marcus, Iowa, to Roy and Ruth (Scott) Kintigh. He graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1949. He was married to Dorris Bierman on December 6, 1952 in the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church at rural Marcus, Iowa. Harold was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the Battleship U.S.S. Iowa. He had worked as a hired hand for his brother-in-law for two years and! then farmed for 37 years in Cherokee County. He and his wife moved to Storm Lake in 1995. During the summers of 1995-1999, he went back to work as a hired hand and during the winter months he worked for Peters Truck and Trailer in Storm Lake. Harold retired in the fall of 1999 due to poor health. He was a member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. He enjoyed model cars and airplanes. He was preceded in death by his parents and his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Dorris of Storm Lake, Iowa; three daughters, Nancy Ann Mitchell and her husband Randy of Dow City, Iowa, Marilyn Kay Harder and her husband Ron of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Patricia JoAnn Kohn and her husband Steve of Spring Hill, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Arkfeld, Mallory Mitchell, Megan Mitchell, Lucas Harder, Andrew Harder, Ryan Kohn, Kelsey Kohn and Kristen Kohn; two great-grandchildren, William Arkfeld and Jayden Harder; two brothers, Stanley Kintigh and his wife Lorna of Minnetonka, Minn., and Dona! ld Kintigh and his wife Naomi of Meriden, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.
