Elba lived in Oregon and Oklahoma until her father died when Elba was just five years old. Her mother remarried and the family moved to Minden, Iowa. Elba graduated from Minden High School in 1934. She received her teacher’s certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Corning, Iowa. She taught country school for 13 years. Elba married Delbert Grosvenor on June 18, 1950, at the RLDS Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The couple farmed south of Magnolia until their retirement in 1992. The couple then moved to Logan. Elba was a member of the Mondamin RLDS Church and the Extension Council. Elba enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing. Elba died on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa attaining the age of 90 years, seven months, and 15 days. Elba was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Brent Howard; two sisters, Willetta Leabo and Evelyn Wood; and Cathy Fouts Hammitt ~ who they raised as a daughter. She is survived by her husband, Delbert of Woodbine, Iowa; Linda Fouts Sills ~ who they raised as a daughter; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
