Bill was born to Sofie Coret Fritch and Newton Wright on Aug. 3, 1924 in Bridgeport, Conn. His mother named him 'Billy Sunday' in honor of the famous 20th century American Evangelist, a popular revivalist at that time. Beginning at age four, he spent the remainder of his childhood at St. Francis Orphanage in New Haven, Conn. During that time, the Sisters of Mercy changed his name to William Francis. At age 17, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and spent the next 22 years stationed at various military bases around the United States including the Santa Ana Lighter Than Air Base, Calif., the Marine Air Force Base, Cherry Point, N.C. and the Marine Base, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Additionally, he was stationed for two years at Kanoya Air Force Base, Kagoshima, Japan. During his career he performed aircraft maintenance, administrative and recruitment duties. In 1953, he married Norma J. Ehlert of Woodbine. To this union, four children were born. He retired in 1967 from the Marine Corp as Gunnery Sergeant, having served in the Korean conflict. Following his military career, he served as a Harrison County Court bailiff, then taught aircraft mechanics at Iowa Western Community College. He resided in Woodbine following his military retirement until he moved to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa in 2005. He was greatly interested in, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of all types of aircraft, particularly those used during WWII, including lighter-than-air machines (dirigibles). He conducted extensive research and correspondence with other aircraft aficionados, engineers and those who published or contributed to books and magazine articles regarding WWII aircraft. Survivors are sons Christopher and wife Susan of Marietta, Ga., Jonathan of Jefferson City, Mo., Peter and wife Diane of Woodbine, Iowa, and daughter Caroline and husband Glenn Walsh of Franklin, Tenn. He has five grandsons, Jonathan Coret, Aaron Coret, Private Patrick Coret (USMC), Stephen Walsh and Samuel Walsh; one granddaughter Tanya Coret; and one great grandson Parker Coret-Rife. He is also survived by sisters Rita Ruetter of St. Louis, Mo., Sophia Perry and Lillian Cotto of Bridgeport, Conn., Rose Sheldon of St. Augustine, Fla., Viola Elliott of Tutsin, Calif. and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his mother, father, stepmother Edna Wright and sister Olga Blanchard. Following a graveside service, he was interred Feb. 7 at the Veteran's Cemetery in Marshalltown.

He was born May 18, 1918, in Witt, Ill., the son of Dr. E.D. and Hattie Nantkes Hubbard. He married Myrt Jones in 1944 in Omaha, Neb. Mr. Hubbard attended National School of Aviation. He was a test pilot, including on the Enola Gay, the B-29 bomber that later dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, and a mechanic. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and Experimental Aircraft Association. Randy was born August 11, 1962, in Selma, Calif., the son of Harold and Judith Higginbotham. Randy graduated from Winters High School in Winters, Calif. He enlisted into the United States Army, where he was stationed in Anniston, Ala.; there he met Kay Wright, they were united into marriage on July 15 1983. Together they were stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1985. They moved back to Waterloo, Iowa; where he graduated from Hawkeye Tech in law enforcement and the Police Academy, in 1986. Randy was a police officer for different communities including Dunlap where he was chief of police in the 1990's. In 1998, Randy became a counselor for Francis Lauer until he couldn't work anymore because of health issues. In 2005 he started working towards his bachelor degree; he wanted to be a his! tory teacher. Randy will be remembered for his great knowledge of the Civil War; he was a walking encyclopedia of history. Randy loved the history of the Civil War, fishing, hunting, movies, and dining out; his greatest love was spending time with Kaye and his family. He was a member of the 8th Texas Civil War Reenacting Group and the Sons of the Union Veterans. Randy is survived by his wife, Kaye Higginbotham of Mason City; father, Harold Higginbotham of Quitman, Ark.; step-mother, Barbara Higginbotham of California; siblings, David, Todd, Darrel, Angel, and Lori Higginbotham, all of California; aunt, Deena Cote of Louisiana; mother-in-law, Audrey A. Wright of Waterloo; brother-in-law, Kent Wright of Waterloo; nephew, Isaac Wright and niece, Naomia Wright; along with other relatives and friends. Randy is preceded in death by his mother, Judith and father-in-law, William Wright. Keith was born on August 7, 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents, Richard Keith and Joan (Hill) Meerhoff, Sr. The family moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and Keith graduated from Thunderbird High School in Phoenix. He was active in motocross and motocross trials. After graduation Keith moved to San Diego, Calif., and worked for United Moving and Mayflower with his brother, Eric. He then worked for CWX Trucking Company in San Diego as a warehouse manager. In November of 1997 he injured his back at work and had to have back surgery. He moved to Indianapolis and then in December of 2002 moved to Dunlap, Iowa. In August of 2005 he had to have his foot amputated. Keith was an avid NASCAR fan and especially a fan of Jeff Gordon. He also enjoyed the Miami Dolphins and fast cars. Keith was preceded in death by his father in December of 1987. He is survived by his mother, Joan Meerhoff of Dunlap! , Iowa; brother, Eric Meerhoff of Dunlap, Iowa; grandmother, Alda Moskin of Cleveland, Ohio, and other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap, Iowa, Thursday, February 15, 2007, at 6 p.m. Marcia Campbell of Lifeline Assembly of God Church in Dunlap will officiate. Family will greet friends from 4 p.m. until time of service on Thursday at the Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap.

In 1937, the couple moved to a farm west of town. In 1939, they moved south of Magnolia and lived there for eight years. They moved back to Paul's family farm after Paul's folks moved to town in 1947. The couple lived there until they moved to Woodbine in 1984. Paul died May 30, 2004. Evelyn was a member of the Christian Church. She enjoyed church activities, the reading circle, crocheting, gardening ~ especially flowers, keeping her diaries, and volunteering at the library and county extension. Evelyn died Thursday, February 8, 2007, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 92 years, two months, and 26 days. She had been in declining health. Carolyn was born on November 7, 1926, to Morgan and Nellie Torrey in Missouri Valley, Iowa. She graduated from Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln High School in 1944 and was married to Clifford C. Palmer on October 18, 1946, in Council Bluffs. Cliff and Carolyn were longtime residents of Des Moines where they were members of New Hope Assembly of God Church. She worked as a corporate secretary in Omaha and Des Moines and was a church secretary in Des Moines. She loved singing at church and in community events and at the nursing home where she resided the past two years. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford Palmer; a sister, Marion; and a brother, Richard. She is survived by her two daughters, Karen and husband, John Neibergall of New Brighton, Minn., and Nancy Krohn of Minden, Iowa; sister-in-law, Lois Lorenzen of Council Bluffs; five grandchildren; two great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. (Hildreth) Dec. 29, 1924 - Jan. 26, 2007 Logan Herald-Observer 2/7/2007 Phyllis M. (Hildreth) Peterson, 82, of Sioux City, formerly of Woodbine, died Jan. 26, 2007 at the Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City. Memorial services were held Jan. 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church in Woodbine with Elder Gary Lee officiating. Musicians were Mrs. Merrill McElwain and Max Poe. Final resting place was the Woodbine Cemetery. Phyllis was born Dec. 29, 1924, to Charles and Nina (Crews) Hildreth in Pisgah. She graduated from Pisgah High School in 1942. She then taught country school at the Delance school Moorhead. Phyllis later took summer teachers' training through Buena Vista College. She married Harry M. Peterson on Aug. 29, 1946 in Papillion, Neb. The couple farmed near Woodbine for 40 years. Phyllis substitute taught in Woodbine. She and Harry managed apartment complexes in Des Moines and Little Rock, Ark. for five years. They then moved to Onawa for 11 years before moving to the Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City in 2001. Phyllis was a former member of the First Christian Church in Woodbine and the Community of Christ in Woodbine. She was active with the ladies groups at the churches. Phyllis loved to sew, cook and garden. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry Peterson on Feb. 23, 2004; and a sister, Helen Welter. She is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Jim) Soetmelk of Greybull, Wyo., and Judy (Terry) Hamer of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Andrea (Mike) Laird of Greybull, Wyo., David (Jill) Soetmelk of Greybull, Wyo., Emily Hamer of Creede, Colo., and Andrew (Theresa) Hamer of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three great grandchildren, Brendon and Brianna Laird and Desiree Young; brothers Charles and Dorothy Hildreth, Warren and Martha Hildreth, Arlan and JoAnn Hildreth, Bernard and Doris Hildreth, Russell and Connie Hildreth, Billy Joe and Dorothy Hildreth and Royce and Elaine Hildreth; sisters Neva and Estal Hinkel, Janece Connery and Sandy Tucker and many other relatives and friends. Paul was a 1943 graduate of Dunlap High School. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart. He married Lois Shields on November 2, 1946, in Dunlap. He learned the plumbing trade while working at B&G Plumbing. He then worked in sales at Westinghouse for 10 years before owning and operating Paul's Plumbing for 23 years. Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Waterloo Elks Club, and the Cedar Falls American Legion. Paul died Thursday, January 18, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Kenneth died Saturday, February 3, 2007, at Veteran's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, five months, and one day. Fay enjoyed baseball and horse racing, and he was always ready for a card game. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he always had a smile on his face. Fay died Sunday, February 4, 2007, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 95 years and one month.
