McDunn in Woodbine, Iowa. She grew up in the Woodbine area and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Dunlap. On May 21, 1927, she married Daniel Adams. The couple farmed near Dunlap and they were blessed with three children. Dan died on July 7, 1972. Mary moved into Woodbine until 1995 at which time she moved to Lake View. Mary was a member of the Jolly Neighbors Club. She loved to garden and she really enjoyed the beautiful flowers. Mary died on Sunday, April 4, 2004 at Black Hawk Lifecare Center in Lake View reaching the age of 95 years, seven months and 29 days. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; daughter, Marjorie Bissen; son, John Adams; son-in-law, Donald Bissen; three brothers, Edward, Francis and Charles McDunn; grandson, John Adams, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Joey Kramer, Jason Krajicek and Caryn McHugh. She is survived by her son, Bob Adams and his wife Marva of Lake View; daughter-in-law, Margaret Adams of Omaha, Neb.; special niece, Bobbie Wettengel of Omaha, Neb.; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine on Wednesday, April 7, 2004. Rev. Paul Strittmatter was celebrant for the 10 a.m. service. Musician was Loie McElwain. Vocalists were Sue Benedickt who sang "Ave Maria" and Pastor Ken and Christine McMillen who sang "Amazing Grace" and "Mansion Over the Hill Top." Interment was made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. Pallbearers were David Muff, Luke Muff, Rich Muff, Willie Krajicek, Lonnie Malone, Jr., Jerry Thompson. Survivors include his sons, Gary Jr. and Trent, both of Logan; daughter, Amanda of Logan; mother, Opal of Logan; sisters, Rose Vorthmann and husband, Ron, of Honey Creek, Shirley Potter of Omaha, Becky Guarino and husband, Sam, of Beebeetown, Shelly Willard and husband, Jim, of Logan; brothers, Gene Baker of Beebeetown, Dale Baker and wife, Susie, of Logan and Gail Baker of Omaha; many relatives and friends. Sidney was born Oct. 31, 1909, in Bradshaw, Neb., to Hugh and Etta (Shick) Wilcox. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Council Bluffs, and attended Simpson College, Indianola; and the University of South Dakota, where he earned his master's degree in music. Sidney married Evelyn Bork, June 4, 1936, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He taught school in Hamburg, College Springs, Paulina and Carroll systems, before moving to Missouri Valley in 1950. He taught at MVHS until his retirement. Sidney was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Missouri Valley; Valley Lodge, AF & AM, Order of the Eastern Star and was a Shriner. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, fishing, hunting and gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1982. Survivors include his daughter, Sydney Jackson and her husband, George, Modale; son, Arnold Wilcox and his wife, Geraldine, Ralston, Neb.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jocquina Wilcox, Council Bluffs; and Roberta Wilcox, Broomfield, Colo. A Masonic Service was held March 28 at the Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home, Missouri Valley, with family visitation following. Funeral Services were held March 29 at the funeral home, Pastor Bob Dagit, officiant. Organist was Genelle Riesland. Honorary bearers were William Lundeen and Ed Pitt. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Orum, Neb., and volunteered at the Washington County Food Pantry and the blood bank, and spent time visiting with residents and staff at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair. She loved being with her family, playing pinochle with friends, and spending time in her garden. She is survived by her husband, Albert (Bud) Hansen; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Joyce Hansen, Blair; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Marty Gearhart, Missouri Valley; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty Wolsmann, Blair; sister, Roma Gehrk, Blair; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Roy Fauss, Nickerson, Neb. (Jump) Grady. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated in 1937. He then began farming with his parents. On January 5, 1946, he married Dolores Moran at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Council Bluffs. The couple lived and farmed Wendell's family farm. He was the fourth generation to farm the land. Wendell was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He enjoyed raising cattle and going on fishing trips. He will be remembered for his quick wit and his sense of humor. Wendell died on Sunday, March 28, 2004, at his farm home near Dunlap (the same farm upon which he was born) at the age of 83 years, nine months and seven days. Preceding in him death were his parents and three brothers, Hilton, Norbert and Robert Grady. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores Grady of Dunlap; seven children, Pat Grady of Logan, Rosemary Grady and husband John Kyreakakis of Logan, Dr. Ann and Wayne Burress of the Netherlands, Suzanne Grady of Fort Myers, Fla., Jim Grady and wife Jane of Dunlap, Sara Grady and husband Robert Bledsoe of Phoenix, Ariz., Maureen Grady-Tatge and husband George Tatge III of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three first cousins, Madeline Snethen of Council Bluffs, Dr. John McLeay of Omaha, Neb., and Mary Tedesco of Council Bluffs and many other relatives and friends. (McIntosh) Sales. He was a concrete finisher working out of Local No. 1140 Laborers Union Hall for 40 years. Mr. Sales and his wife, Sharon (Tefft) Sales, were married Nov. 23, 1994. Polly was born in 1936 in Beebeetown to Chester O. and Myrtle M. Thomas, the youngest of six children. She was a graduate of Missouri Valley High School, Class of 1953. She received her certificate in X-ray technology in 1956 from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Polly was united in marriage to Karl D. Fastner, Nov. 30, 1957. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in 1959. She was active in various organizations throughout her life. She served as a Republican Committee Woman for Lee's Summit, Mo., in 1970. She also served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Turners Club of Kansas City in 1970. The family lived in Missouri Valley from 1971 through 1978. During this time, Polly worked at Byron Reed Co., Omaha. They returned to Lee's Summit in 1979 and Polly continued her career in real estate, working for various companies, including Coldwell Banker. The Fastners relocated to Warsaw in 1991 and Polly and her husband, Karl, and daughter Melanie, opened the Mule Barn Trade Fair in 1994. The business was sold in 2000 and Polly and Karl retired in the area. Her parents, two sisters, a brother and a son, Karl Thomas, preceded her in death. Polly is survived by her husband, Karl Dieter; daughter, Melanie and her husband, Chris Taylor; and grandchildren, James Christopher, Adrienne Rose and Holly Kay; sisters, Marjorie Tripp, Council Bluffs; Janice Mart, Altoona, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 13 at 2 p.m. at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw. The family requests memorials be given to the Twin Lakes Hospice in lieu of flowers.
