She graduated from Pisgah High School. Donna married Ralph E. Chambers, Sept. 19, 1951. He died Aug. 7, 1986. She was a homemaker and worked at several places, but for 30 years she was a certified nurses assistant at the Westmont Care Center, Logan. Donna enjoyed taking rides, visiting with people, gardening, flowers, garage sales, country music videos, collecting rocks and crafts. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and would help anyone who was in need. Survivors include her son, Dave, and his wife, Lesa, Missouri Valley; daughter, Carol Thomas, and her husband, Larry, Missouri Valley; sons, Allan, Logan, Brian and his wife, Tammy, Missouri Valley; sister, Ann Leeper, and her husband, Harold, Bettendorf; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be today (Friday, Aug. 20) from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Logan Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. at the Logan Memorial Chapel, Pastor Marcia Campbell, officiant. Interment will be at a later date in the Magnolia Cemetery. She also graduated from Mercy Hospital nurses training in Council Bluffs, as a Registered Nurse, in 1944. She married David M. Griffith May 22, 1946 in Panama, and they farmed in Harrison County. They moved to Missouri Valley in 1980. Helen worked in hospitals in Council Bluffs and retired at Community Memorial Hospital, Missouri Valley in 1981. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Missouri Valley. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William (Bill) and Helen Croghan, a son, Marion, and brothers Peter and Joe, and sister Elizabeth Kohles, and sister-in-law, Katherine Croghan. She is survived by her husband, David; sons, William F. (Bill) Griffith, Gretna, Neb.; and Paul Griffith and his wife, Marian, Hughesville, Pa.; daughter, Beth Moore, and her husband, Randy, Missouri Valley; sister, Bernadette Kirlin, Des Moines; brothers, James Croghan and his wife, Kathy, Washington, D.C.; Jerome Croghan, Manning; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Croghan, Manning; and Adelaide Croghan, Manning; brother-in-law, James Kohles, Harlan; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Nelsen, 55 08/23/2004 Mark A. Nelsen, Council Bluffs, died Aug. 11. He passed peacefully in the arms of his wife after a long battle with cancer. Mark was born Aug. 8, 1949 to Martin and Patricia (Reddy) Nelsen. He was a 1968 graduate of Missouri Valley High School. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-72, and earned an award for Superior Service on board the U.S.S. Proteus (AS-19), from May 1969 to November 1970. Mark married Chris (Lustgraaf) Jones, Dec. 30, 1992. For the past 25 years, Mark was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as foreman in the Bridge and Building department. In his leisure time, he enjoyed woodworking, camping and boating with friends and family. His most enjoyable moments were spent at a family cabin near La Cygne, Kan., where he was able to spend a few of his final days. Mark was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter, Halee Larsen. Justin Leon Kephart was born Oct. 27, 1962 in Fremont, Neb. to Marvin and Anita (Loges) Jensen. Justin worked for Blue's Amusements for many years. he also worked at Jenny-O Turkey, Wilmar, Minn., as well as in hog confinement, making flags at Blackburn's in Oakdale, Neb., Small's Fruit Farm near Mondamin; and recently had started working for Myer Construction, with occasional jobs in between. Justin loved to sing, dance, play guitar, watch wrestling, throw horseshoes, hunt, fish and work outside. He was a fun-loving man who loved to play jokes. While on his way to Minnesota, at a gas station, in a very convincing voice, he told a man that he had dropped his pocket, going as far as looking along the ground to help the man find it. He was also a thoughtful man. He made a tape for his grandmother, Elizabeth Loges. While working at the carnival, it was nearing Christmas and he was short on money. Justin thought the tape would be a perfect gift that he could afford, so he made it and brought it home to her. Justin was preceded in death by his step-father, Eugene Jensen; grandparents, John and Elizabeth Loges and Ernest and Ida Kephart; sister, Tammy Kephart; brother John Kephart; and by Charolette McCaige. Hanigan September 16, 2004 John T. Hanigan, 81, of Dunlap died Friday, September 10, 2004, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. John was born August 20, 1923 near Dunlap, Iowa to parents Thomas M. and Catherine M. (Murphy) Hanigan. He attended country school and then graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Dunlap in 1941. John then began farming alongside his father. On April 7, 1947, he married Betty I. Sloth and soon thereafter the couple began farming their own land outside of Dunlap. John was the happiest outside on his farm. He loved the land and the life of farming. He especially enjoyed farming with his brother, Jerry, and eventually his son. He took great pride in what they accomplished together. He was an avid euchre player and received endless enjoyment from the rowdy games he played in weekly. Rooted deeply in his own Irish values, John's family extended far beyond bloodlines. Kin or not, there was always room for one more at John and Betty's table. John was a life long member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap and a longtime member of the board of directors of Dunlap Savings Bank. John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; his brother, Jerry; and infant granddaughter, Mary Piernicky. He is survived by his three children, Mary Catherine and her husband Mike Piernicky of Omaha, Neb., John Thomas Hanigan, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Dunlap, and Jeanne Marie and her husband Fred McMains of Underwood. John also leaves behind six grandchildren: Michael and his wife Jaime, Megan, Sarah, Rachel, Nathan and Erin; great-grandchild, Jack Michael; sisters, Marie Houston of Dunlap, Kathleen Janssen of Des Moines, Marjorie Brosnahan of Logan, Virginia and her husband Gerald Klein of Dunlap; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Hanigan of Dunlap, Helen Dorn of Storm Lake; and many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap Tuesday morning, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Paul Strittmatter as celebrant. Schlensig, 74, of Dunlap died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center. Wilma was born April 19, 1927 in Monona County to parents Arthur C. and Lena (Waderich) Kroll. She attended country school in the Soldier area. On February 25, 1948, she married Roger D. Schlensig in Denison. The couple farmed in the Charter Oak and Dunlap area. While Roger was in the service they lived in Alaska from the spring of 1953 to the spring of 1954. The couple returned to the Dunlap area where they farmed. Roger died on June 7, 1998. Wilma was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, active in the WELCA, a member of the Stitch & Sew Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed embroidery, sewing and gardening. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Roger; sister, Evelyn Wadsworth and brothers, Clarence and Henry Kroll. Survivors include one son, Larry and Lucy Schlensig of Shelby; one daughter, Linda and Kenny Hicks of Dunlap; two grandchildren, Eric Hicks and Dakota Schlensig; two brothers, Wilber and Ruby Kroll of Altoona and Loren Kroll of Dow City and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, May 4, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap with Pastor Walt Behrens officiating. He worked as a landscaping contractor. Wayne was a member of the Arizona Flywheelers, Good Sam's Club, Classic Car Club of Chino Valley and Chino Valley Community Church, and was P.E.R. of the Sedona Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Meredith; daughters, Kimberly Poole of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Shelley Sarson of Cornville, Ariz.; brother, Ron of Iowa; sister, Jesse Messenger of Willcox, Ariz.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He and his wife later retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in the mid 1980's. In 1991 they moved to Holton, Kan. He was preceded in death by one brother, William "Bill" Kean. Ernie also worked for the Schaben Real Estate office for a number of years. Ernie was a member of the Christian Church in Logan. He served as an Elder for 50 years. Ernie loved square dancing, and traveled to Okoboji every year just to square dance. Ernie and Helen wintered in Texas for many years. The couple loved to travel in their motor home. Ernie also enjoyed the out-of-doors and hunting. Ernie died Sunday, September 19, 2004, at his home in Woodbine, Iowa attaining the age of 82 years, eight months and 28 days. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, grandson Brian Yost, Brother David Knauss, Brothers-in-law Don Reuland, and Myron Van Cleave. Jan. 26, 1899 Jackson, Sac, Iowa. Mother was Myrtle Ottis Scott b. 1877-78 Cedar, Sac, Iowa. I do not know what happened to his father but by 1907 Myrtle m. Thomas Edward Brunson. He worked for the Checago & North Western Railroad and was transfered to Fond du Lac, Wisconson 1911. Thomas died in 1918 and at that time Lloyd enlisted in the Armey. Lloyde has 7 1/2 brothers and sisters. Myrtles parents also moved to Fond du Lac with them. James and Harriet Scott. Myrtle married LLoyds father at the age of 16 or 17. Lloyde married Francis M. Keifenheim in Fond du Lac and had two sons, Robert and Donald. 1930 cences shows wife, boys but no Lloyde and can not find him now, anyone know what happened to him too?

The money was kept at home and some scheming thief heard of it. So he caught fire some haystacks belonging to Mr. McCord, and while he and his family were out trying to prevent the fire from sprading, the thief entered the house and with an ax smashed the bureau and scattered the household goods in every direction. Be he didnt get any money, for Mr. McCord had deposited it in a dunlap bank the evening previous.

Margaret is survived by two sons, Jim (Deborah) Greenwood of Dunlap and Dr. Gordon Greenwood of Bensonville, Ill.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn (Robert) Benson of Liscomb and Shirley Wagner of Cornell, Wis.; brother, Floyd Huston of Calahan, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Cleo Huston, Russell Huston and Forrest Huston and one sister, Ruby Henness.

Betty was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap, member of Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She had been a 4-H Leader, CCD teacher and enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling and time with family. Betty died Saturday, July 17, 2004 at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Mary Piernicky. She is survived by her husband, John T. Hanigan, Sr. of Dunlap; three children, Mary Catherine and her husband Mike Piernicky of Omaha, Neb., and their two children Megan, Michael and his wife Jaime and their son Jack; John Thomas Hanigan, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Dunlap and their two children Sarah and Rachel; Jeanne Marie and her husband Fred McMains of Underwood and their two children Nathan and Erin; sister, Helen Dorn of Storm Lake and many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap Tuesday morning, July 20, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Paul Strittmatter as celebrant. Musician was Marilyn Grote. Vocalist Katie Schaben sang "Ava Maria," "Be Not Afraid," and "One Bread One Body." Interment was made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. Pallbearers were Dan Brosnahan, Dick Hanigan, Jerry Joe Hanigan, Jim Hanigan, Joe Klein, Tom Klein. Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth attended country school and graduated from Soldier High School in 1934. He worked in Minnesota harvesting fields. He then returned home to help his folks. On October 13, 1938, he married Lucille Knutson. The couple lived on a farm by Dow City for two years before moving to a farm west of Dunlap. Kenneth farmed his entire life. Kenneth was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church as he served as a council member and the treasurer. He was a country school director and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dunlap. Kenneth died Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Immanuel Fontenelle Home in Omaha, Nebraska attaining the age of 87 years, three months, and 27 days. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Ralph and Russell Gorham. He is survived by his wife, Lucille of Omaha, Neb.; daughter, Janet and her husband Bill Oldham of Omaha, Neb.; son, Gary Gorham and his wife Audrey of Dunlap; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap on Monday, July 12, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Steve Hetzel and Lauri Boysen officiating. Musician was Lauri Boysen. Vocalist was Katie Schaben who sang "Amazing Grace." Interment was made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. (Murphy) Hanigan. He attended country school and then graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Dunlap in 1941. John then began farming alongside his father. On April 7, 1947, he married Betty I. Sloth and soon thereafter the couple began farming their own land outside of Dunlap. John was the happiest outside on his farm. He loved the land and the life of farming. He especially enjoyed farming with his brother, Jerry, and eventually his son. He took great pride in what they accomplished together. He was an avid euchre player and received endless enjoyment from the rowdy games he played in weekly. Rooted deeply in his own Irish values, John's family extended far beyond bloodlines. Kin or not, there was always room for one more at John and Betty's table. John was a life long member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap and a longtime member of the board of directors of Dunlap Savings Bank. John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; his brother, Jerry; and infant granddaughter, Mary Piernicky. He is survived by his three children, Mary Catherine and her husband Mike Piernicky of Omaha, Neb., John Thomas Hanigan, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Dunlap, and Jeanne Marie and her husband Fred McMains of Underwood. John also leaves behind six grandchildren: Michael and his wife Jaime, Megan, Sarah, Rachel, Nathan and Erin; great-grandchild, Jack Michael; sisters, Marie Houston of Dunlap, Kathleen Janssen of Des Moines, Marjorie Brosnahan of Logan, Virginia and her husband Gerald Klein of Dunlap; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Hanigan of Dunlap, Helen Dorn of Storm Lake; and many other relatives and friends. He lived in the Logan and Moorhead area most of lifetime. He was a truck driver. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Logan. Mr. MayBee was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. (Lee) MayBee, on April 19, 1987. Survivors include three daughters, Shawn Salter and husband, Robert, of Logan, Kathleen MayBee of Logan and Renee C. Emmart of Council Bluffs; three sons, Mark A. MayBee of Logan, Edward MayBee and wife, Darnelle, of Logan and Richard C. MayBee Jr. and wife, Lori, of Missouri Valley; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three half-sisters, Peggy, Chery and Lynn. The body has been cremated. Graveside memorial service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Minden Cemetery with Nigel G. Probert of Grace Community Fellowship Church in Missouri Valley officiating.
