    1. Ruth Margaret (Grosvenor) Snyder - obit
    2. Daily Nonpareil Council Bluffs IA October 18th, 2004 Ruth Margaret (Grosvenor) Snyder, 84, of Council Bluffs died Oct. 16 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital. Mrs. Snyder was a woman of grace and dignity, with a dry and witty sense of humor. She was born in Missouri Valley and grew up in Logan. She eventually moved to Chicago where she worked as a secretary, and there she met her husband, Thomas, a stained-glass artisan. Ruth studied calligraphy and was an avid reader of poetry. She was a talented seamstress and quilter who never met a piece of fabric she didn't like (or couldn't save for some future use!). There was nothing she loved more than a sunny afternoon at the horse races. A life-long fan of country music, it was an unspoken family rule that on road trips back to visit her family in Iowa, country was the only thing allowed on the radio (unless the kids misbehaved - then it was Chinese opera). She loved her children and family tremendously, and though they were separated by miles, she was devoted to her grandchildren. She has left a hole in our hearts and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and June Grosvenor; her dear husband, Thomas S. Snyder; daughter Elaine Marie; sisters, Edna Grosvenor, Gayle Parker, Eileen Smith and Beryle Valentine; and brothers, Gary and James Grosvenor. Mrs. Snyder is survived by her son, Steven Owen Snyder, of Chicago; her daughter, Myrna Snyder DiCesare and husband, Frank, of Boston; grandchildren, Lily June and Caleb Remington; sister, Roberta Carver of Watkinsville, Ga.; and many sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Henry-Livingston Funeral Home, formerly McCurdy Funeral Home. Celebration of Life service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Logan Cemetery in Logan.
