Yes, I'm always interested in anything that can help me extend my line. I have found slightly more information since I posted... Thomas Dudley Thornton was born 23 Sep 1827 in Covington, Campbell County, Kentucky. He died 30 Jun 1909 in Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa. He had married Julia A. Huston 17 Mar 1852, across the river in Cincinnati, Ohio. Thomas D.'s parents were Thomas P. Thornton and Frances Hambrick. The whole family had moved to Fremont County, Iowa in 1854. Benjamin Franklin Thornton, son of Thomas and Frances, died there that year. Thomas and Frances followed him in death in 1856. All three are buried together in Sidney Cemetary. I just wish I had something prior to 1850 on Thomas P, or that atleast talked more about where he was before arriving in Covington. I do know that Frances' father, Jilson Hambrick was born in Fauquier County, Virginia; however, since Thomas married her in Covington, there is currently no evidence that the families knew each other in Virginia, though the possibility is always there. Thomas P. was born in Virginia in 1801. I have no idea how THomas P came to be in Kentucky. I don't know if he came alone, or with his parents. So far I have no idea who his parents are. From what data I do have, there are a few recurring names, which may or may not be clues. Thomas, obviously, and also Tiberius. Lillie is also recurring, as in Lillie Rae and Lillie Marie. There is also an uncanny habit of using initials instead of names. Thomas P. went by T.P., THomas D. went by T.D., my grandfather was F.O.....ect. Early on I had seen some of the data on the Virginia Thorntons, which included data going back to York, but at the time I wasn't even sure if I was attached to the Virginia Thorntons, and I have since lost that data. I would appreciate anything you could give me that deals with the Thorntons coming down from William in England, and including atleast as far down as the beginning of the 1800's. If there is nothing specific, there might atleast be leads that I can follow up, that might lead to the identities of Thomas' parents.
