Reade.--At her residence in this city, Friday, August 28, 1896, Mrs. Jas. Reade, aged 23 years, 7 months and 23 days."--Grace Greenwood Godwin was born of Christian parents in Aurora, Portage county, Ohio, January 6, 1873. She came to Illinois with her parents when a child, but soon after moved to Richardson county, Neb., where she grew to womanhood. She was married to James Reade at Hastings, Neb., June 20, 1894, and immediately came to Sidney, Iowa, where she resided up to the time of her death. She had been sick for several days, but was not thought to be dangerously ill. She suddenly passed away on Friday evening while her husband was tenderly watching by her side. Mrs. Reade was a Christian woman, amiable in disposition, gentle in manners and queenly in her home. She was devoted to her home and sought to make it pleasant for all. She leaves a husband, brothers and sisters, to mourn her loss, and a little babe a few months old who will never know the touch of a mother's hand. Her funeral took place from the M. E. church on Monday afternoon, August 31st. The sermon was preached by the Rev. A.T. Jeffrey, after which her remains were followed to their last resting place in the Sidney cemetery by a large number of sorrowing friends and relatives.
