January 9, 1930. -- John Henry Baldwin was born near Wheeling, West Virginia, on October 11, 1852 and died at the Nicholas Senn hospital in Omaha January 1, 1930 at the age of 77years 2 months 20 days. September 22, 1877 he was united in marriage to Caroline V. Dorsey and to their union was born one son, Leon Alva Baldwin, who survives, together with his mother. There are three grandsons and a host of lesser relatives and friends left to mourn his departure. In the mid-winter of 1884 the family departed from Wheeling and moved westward, settling at Bedford, Iowa, where they lived until 1894. They then moved to Elliott, living there until 1900 when they moved to Red Oak. Mr. Baldwin united with the Baptist church at Bedford, but on moving to Elliott affilliated with the Methodist church, also at Red Oak. In his private life he was a model citizen. He engaged himself in the creamery business and for twenty years traveled for David Cole Creamery company, retiring about two years ago. He was honest, true and upright in all of his dealings. He was one of those tried and true men whose reputation slander dare not touch, whose retreat malignity dare not invade, whose motives prejudice dare not lmpugn. Men who knew him best loved him best, and those who associated with him most valued his friendship and counsel most. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Riverton last Fridaty, January 3, at 2:30 p.m. The service was conducted by Rev. l. L. Weis of Red Oak, assisted by Rev. H. P.Grinyer. Interment was made in Riverton cemetery. CARD OF THANKS: Our heartfelt thanks go out to all our friends and neighbors who showered upon us their manifold deeds of kindness and sympathy in the loss of our beloved husband and father. Also to the singers and those who provided the profusion of flowers.--Mrs. J. H. Baldwin, Dr. L. A. Baldwin and Family.
