"Back After Many Years".-- Pierson Smith, known to his old friends as "Ish" Smith, is back in Sidney this week for his first visit since leaving his boyhood home thirty-five years ago. He was born and raised on a farm two miles northwest of Sidney, leaving to go west when he was a young man. A few weeks ago Mr. Smith received an invitation from his oldest brother, Harley Smith, who was also a Sidney boy, and who now is captain of a passenger boat, to be his guest on a trip to England. Accepting the invitation, Mr. Smith was on his way to join his brother at Newport News when he received a message that the boat was sailing several days earlier than scheduled and he was unable to reach it in time to sail. Receiving the mesage at Council Bluffs, Mr. Smith decided to visit his boyhood home before returning to his home in Oakland, California. He has been agreeably surprised to find so many old friends are living in Sidney. Mr. Smith a retired railroad man.
