August 27, 1931. "Two Pioneers Called".-- Two of Sidney's aged residents were called by death within a very short time of each other Sunday, James H. Copeland and Hugh Reeves. Both had been in failing health for a considerable period of time. Mr. Copeland died at his home at 5:00 o'clock Sunday morning and Mr. Reeves died about 5:00 o'clock the afternoon of the same day. James Hiram Copeland was born in Fremont county August 6, 1855, being 76 years of age at the time of his death. On October 26, 1876, he was united in marriage to Ruth Keeler, who died November 9, 1918. Four children, three of whom are living, were born to them, Bert W. of Miami, Florida, Besie M. of Los Angeles and Dessa F. Kooser of Ames. On December 1, 1920 he was married to Mrs.Olive Jones, who survives. Mr. Copeland had spent practically his entire life in Fremont county. During the past few years he had been in poor health and had suffered one or two strokes that doubtless hastened his death. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. W. Howard, and burial was made in the Sidney cemetery.
