(From Wednesday's Daily): "The Kidnapping Case".-- We alluded yesterday to a somewhat interesting and exciting examination before Justice D. C. Thomas, in regard to the forcible abduction of a boy named Joseph Farwell, about 10 years of age, from this state into Iowa. The boy was the son of the wife of Dominic Shearer, and was living in Mr. Shearer's family. About a month ago the boy's mother died--thus leaving the orphan without any guardian and without any relatives in this state, his father having died while a soldier in the Union army. The grandparents of the boy reside in Iowa, and his uncle John Sheridan, found him on our streets (and not at the Catholic school as the "Chronicle" says,) and took him home to his grandparents. When John Sheridan came to our city on Monday morning, he was arrested for kidnapping and had a preliminary examination yesterday. The boy was drawing a pension of $6.00 a month, and this seems to cut quite a figure in the whole case. After a full examination of all facts the prisoner was discharged and the boy still remains with his grandparents in Iowa.. The case was vigorously prosecuted by E. R. Richardson, Esq, and ably defended by Bierbower, Stevenson and Hayward. Constable Canada had a hand in, too, and rulled some of "the chesnuts out of the fire" for himself. (2).--THE NEBRASKA CITY NEWS. January 25, 1873.-- Joseph Fawell's grandfather, Mr. Sheridan, has been appointed his guardian by the probate Judge of Fremont county, Iowa. N.B.: I have never been successful in running down the details of this Farwell - Sheridan family. Any help would be appreciated.--W.F.
