"DIED. Darnell--On July 26th, 1901, E. L.Darnell, aged 52 years 9 months and 18 days."--The subject of this sketch was born in Woodson county, Virginia, on October 10th, 1848, and came to Wapello county, Iowa, with his parents iln 1859. Ten years later, in 1869, he went to Boulder,Colorado, where he was married to Lucinda Foster, on July 6th, 1875. Only one child was born to these parents, a son, who died in infancy. In 1886 Mr. Darnell returned to Iowa, remaining here till his demise. About one week before his death he received a violent kick in the stomach from a cow, occasioning internal injuries from which he never rallied. The deceased was of a family of 10 childen, seven brothers and three sisters, who are all living but one brother. Mr. Darnell was a good husband, a true and loyal neighbor, ever ready to lend a helping hand when help was needed. He leaves a wife, an adopted son, five brothers and three sisters, and a host of friends to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held last Sunday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. H. Runyon, in the presence of a very large concourse of relatives, neighbors and sympathizing friends of the deceased. Second: THE FREMONT COUNTY SUN. August 1, 1901. "Death From An Accident".-- Mr. E. L. Darnell of Prairie township who was injured by a cow Sunday night July 21, died Friday July 26 from the effect of the injuries. Mr. Darnell was almost fifty-three years old at the time of his death. He had resided in Fremont county about eighteen years. He left a wife and an adopted son. The funeral services which were very largely attended were held at the Baptist chuch in Sidney last Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Runyon. The surviving wife and son have the sympathy of all in their sad bereavement.
