March 17, 1932. "Former Citizen Dead".-- Frank Butt, a resident of Nebraska City and Otoe county for more than thirty five years, died Thursday shortly before noon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Fessler, where he had made his home for several months. Death was due to dropsy. Frank Butt, who was about 72 years of age, came to Nebraska City from Sidney about thirty five years ago and for several years was employed by operators of livery barns in this city. He was later employed as a hack driver by Payne & McCallum and when the motor taxi made its advent he drove taxi for several years, later engaging in business for himself. Mr. Butt was a lover of horses, and for several years was employed by Syracuse horsemen and made his home in that town. Before coming to Nebraska City he operated a livery barn at Sidney and for years had the contract as mail carrier between that place and Hamburg and was well known in that section of Fremont county. He was married at Sidney to Miss Alice M. Langston, who died in Nebraska City a few years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lester Shields of Lincoln.--Nebraska City "News- Press". Debbie: This is in answer to your e-mail regarding the possibility that Lucinda Furbush Butts (b. Dec. 29, 1817 - d. Apr. 17, 1891) was an aunt of John Browning Furbish (b. July 8, 1833 - d. Oct. 2, 1914).....Unfortunately, the Sidney papers for the entire year of 1891 are missing, so I doubt there will be an obituary for Lucinda Butts......BUT, since John Furbish ran a delivery business in Sidney from 1871 to 1873 and as well was the proprietor of the Sidney - Hamburg hack line -- AND -- one reads that a son of J. D. and Lucinda (Furbush) Butts was likewise in the same occupation in the same place, there is a good chance of a relationship between the two families. BUT I REALLY DO NOT KNOW.--W.F.
