Foster Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ok.2ADE/4098.8 Message Board Post: 1.--ESTES Lacy Grove, Fremont county, Iowa a.--Milton Estes will teach Providence during the spring term.--Sun of 2/13/1896. 2.--Providence District School was located two miles north of Sidney in the northwest corner of the northeast quarter of the northeast quarter of section 15 township 69 range 42. Lacy Grove District School was located in the northeast quarter of section 17, two miles west. If Darby was correct when he included Providence as a part of the Lacy Grove Neighborhood, surely he was noticing the western part of that school district-- that part lying between Providence and Lacy Grove.--W.F. 3.--Milton Estes (Nov. 15, 1873 - Dec. 27, 1936), was the son of Jasper W. (Jan. 15, 1837 - Nov. 2, 1894) and Sophia (Campbell) (1854 - 1936) Estes; and the grandson of the Joel Estes (May 26, 1806 - Dec. 31, 1874) who history credits with discovering Estes Park, Colorado. Joel Estes' wife was Patsy Stollings (June 6, 1806 - Aug. 6, 1882).......Milton Estes' mother, Sophia (Campbell) Estes was the daughter of Aaron Campbell and his wife, Sophia DeFreece. This Sophia DeFreece was the first cousin of Linzie and Talt DeFreece (brothers) who married Belle Love and Bertha Love (sisters), respectively.--W.F. Milton Estes and wife, nee Carrie B. Carter, had a daughter Evelyn Jean (?) who married Lieutenant Dale Foster, my junior high teacher at Sidney before entering World War II. -- W.F.
