(N.B.: The Lacy Grove church was known as the Salem Church.--W.F.) 2.-- Obituary of Oliver Blodgett THE FREMONT COUNTY HERALD. January 15, 1903. "DEATH OF OLIVER BLODGETT".--The death of Oliver Blodgett occurred at the Clarinda hospital for the insane Saturday at 6 o'clock p.m. He was a soldier in the Civil War and enlisted in Company"D", 16th Iowa, May 9, 1864, also company "I", 51st Wisconsin regiment. Mr. Blodgett was quite well known in this county and some seven years ago lived in the Lacy Grove district. Many will remember of his going to the Soldier's Home at Marshalltown where he remained until three days before his death when his mental condition became so impaired that he was sent to the asylum at Clarinda. Mrs.Blodgett died about three years ago. Seven children are left to mourn his loss, three boys who live in the vicinity of Shenandoah, two daughters, Mrs. Geo. Chapman and Grace Blodgett, who live two miles southwest of this place, and one son and daughter at the Orphans' Home at Davenport, Iowa. 3. Obituary of Mrs. George W. Chapman THE SIDNEY ARGUS - HERALD. May 16, 1929. "MRS. GEORGE W. CHAPMAN".-- Alice Irene Blodgett was born at Fort Atkinson, Iowa, on March 3, 1877, and passed away at her home near Sidney May 11, 1929, aged 52 years 3 months and 8 days. She came with her parents to Page (sic) county in 1889 and since that time has lived most of her life in the immediate vicinity of Sidney. February 13, 1895, she was married to George W. Chapman and to this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Gaven Louden of Shenandoah, who lovingly cared for her mother during her last illness. Mrs. Chapman was a teacher in the country schools for many years and many children will be better citizens because of her influence. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband and daughter and two grandchildren, together with two sisters, Mrs Charles Long of Farragut and Mrs. Thomas Folkes of Hamburg; four brothers, Will of Wyoming, Glen of San Fancisco, Thomas, living in Michigan, and Forrest of Omaha. Funeral services were held from the Sidney Methodist church Monday afternoon and interment was in Sidney cemetery. Relatives and friends from abroad in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. John Sweeney, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Sweeney from Shenandoah; Forrest Blodgett of Omaha; Bert McClure of Fairbury. 4.--OLIVER B. BLODGETT, born 1848 at Clark's Corner, Ohio - died January 10, 1903; married JEANNETTE A. "Nettie" BELL, born Feb. 4, 1864 - died July 15, 1899 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Burial in Rose Hill, Shenandoah, Iowa....When O. B. Blodgett attended the 1895 veteran's reunion in Sidney, he was living at Sidney, and registered as having been a member of the 46th Iowa Regiment.....This family is shown as household #335 in the 1895 census of Sidney township, Fremont county, Iowa FAMILY as far as known: a. William F. Blodgett, b. ca. 1871 at Spillville, Iowa; married Mary E. Cadle on Dec. 25, 1898 in Fremont county. Daughter of Daniel and Nancy (Petrie) Cadle. In 1929 were living in Wyoming. Blodgett, b. 1891 - d. 1970; married Thomas Folkes, b. 1885 - d. 1946; married on Sept. 3, 1908; Burial Mt. Olive, Fremont county, Iowa. g. Forrest Blodgett, b. ca. 1892. In 1929 was living in Omaha.
